This is the starting point of a new experiment. I would like to find out:
- What do I know?
- Do I know it as well as I think I do?
- Does anyone else find it interesting?
The first two will be answered during the act of writing. The third by the number of visitors, and, eventually, their comments.
Why do I think this will be a useful exercise?
Well, I spend a lot of time thinking. Maybe al ittle too much. I hope this has led to at least a little understanding. Also, maybe this will lead away from the thinking and into more doing.
What am I going to bring to the table?
Forty years of living in multiple countries and cultures; working in academia, government and industry; countless mistakes, suppositions and lessons learned.
What am I going to write about?
What I know: science, organizational behavior, living an efficient life, personal finance, interpersonal relations, game theory, raising kids, etc.
Who are good role models in this experiment?
I think the best I've found is Joshua Kennon's site (www.joshuakennon.com/). It is mostly good, factual content with a lot of examples/use of current events to illustrate said content. There are a bunch of others, but they fall into the same camp.
